(23 Apr) Civic Voice – the new national charity for the civic movement – was launched on Saturday 17th April with fresh evidence of our passion for making the places where we all live more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive. More than three in four people surveyed identify something valued in their local area which is at risk. A prime objective of Civic Voice is to make places more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive. And to promote civic pride. (15 Apr) The next talk, by Bryan Howling, is on Tuesday 4th May and is entitled: 'Reclamation around The Wash since Saxon Times'. Click for more information. At the AGM, which followed the EGM, a questionnaire was circulated entitled 'What do you want the Civic Society to do?'. (24 Nov) Planned development of the East of England upto 2031 Although the East of England Regional Assembly is to be abolished in March 2010, it has produced a consultation document about possible ways in which an increased population might be housed during the next 20 years. The need for more homes is growing because of a net migration into the area, increased life expectancy and a trend for more people to live alone.
